Produced Water

Produced water needs to be treated before it can be safely returned back into the environment, and, in order to do that, well operators must understand the produced water makeup so that various chemicals, non-soluble organics, and dissolved solids can be measured and removed. Each well and region has its own unique processed water composition and therefore will require that different parameters and contaminants are tracked and removed. As regulations become more stringent and communities more closely watch oil and gas operations, water operators need to ensure that the water they use is treated properly before release and that their process of doing so is up to local governmental standards.

KETOS can help water operators understand the makeup of their produced water in order to know what needs to be removed and if the process has been successful. The platform can monitor for 25+ parameters, including salinity and heavy metals. As a modular solution, KETOS hardware can be placed at multiple strategic points to monitor water quality in real-time and with ppb lab-accuracy.

Did You Know?

In America, 2.5 billion gallons of produced water is extracted along with oil and gas daily.

Water is essential in drilling, pressure maintenance, and all stages of production.

Unconventional oil and gas extraction has brought environmental concerns, especially related to water, to the forefront.
